Waiver
The ISO plan will be mandatory for all international students. You may be eligible for a waiver, if you fall into any of the categories below:
- Covered as a dependent under a parent/spouse¡¯s US-based employer plan.
- Covered through their home country embassy¡¯s insurance (e.g. SACM).
If you qualify for a waiver as per the categories listed above, you can file a waiver online.
Waiver deadline is Aug. 1, 2026.
Why health insurance is important in the U.S.
The high cost of healthcare in the U.S. exposes international students to financial risks in case of illness or injury. Requiring all international students to enroll in the school-sponsored health plan from ISO helps protect against high medical costs and potential disruptions to academic progress.

Domestic student-athletes
Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø does not pay for medical services just because your college student participates in a NCAA varsity sport. Please remember all student-athletes are required to have health insurance coverage during the entire school year, either through a family policy or an individual policy.
Insurance claims are billed to your primary insurance by providing insurance information to your provider of service at the time of treatment. It is imperative that you FOLLOW YOUR PRIMARY INSURANCE CARRIER¡¯S MANAGED CARE GUIDELINES relative to participating providers, covered charges, number of allowable visits, referral procedures, network physicians, etc. Primary health care plan coverage designs vary and often include deductibles, co-pays, etc., which will be YOUR responsibility. Do not send bills to Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø.
It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian/student-athlete to make sure their insurance is accepted in our area. In order to keep insurance costs low, many families purchase insurance with more restrictions where they may receive care. Listed below are area physicians, physical therapists and hospitals where we commonly send our student-athletes for care should the need arise. You MUST verify with your insurance company that your policy is in network in the Quad Cities area. If your insurance works with different practitioners than listed below, that is fine. You may use whomever you choose, but it must be accepted locally unless you want your student-athlete to return home for care.

Campus health clinic
Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Convenient Care is located in Baldur House just behind the Gerber Center, next to Casa Latina. While the clinic will make it easier for students to access health services on campus, it is not meant to replace the requirement for students to maintain health insurance coverage; available options follow below.
If your student needs to see a physician on a routine basis (diabetes monitoring or allergy shots, for example), we urge you to establish a relationship with a local physician.
Note: Students who are under age 18 when they enroll at Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø will need a parent or guardian to fill out a medical consent form. This information is required for students under age 18 to receive medical treatment.
