Student support

Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø life is exciting and new. It¡¯s also full of challenges. Classes can be difficult, even overwhelming. Friendships are made, lost, changed and renewed. Academic majors shift and merge with new goals.

You may graduate an entirely different person than the one who arrived for Welcome Week. Or you may be the person you¡¯ve always been, though more knowledgeable, capable, confident and wise.

Whatever happens during your four life-changing years at Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø, you¡¯ll find the advisors, counselors and other mentors you¡¯ll need to become the person you want to be on graduation day.

Advising

Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø students have advisors every step of the way, from first-year advisors to a professor in the major field you¡¯ll choose by the end of your sophomore year. There is a network of support, including  career counselors, residential life staff, coaches, instructors and peer mentors.

Beyond these, your options for help, advice and counsel are many, depending on what you need.

Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø help with differential equations? Go to the math resource room (a.k.a. the ratiocination or ¡°rat¡± room).

Need assistance writing your essay? Meet with a tutor in the Reading/Writing Center.

Working to master English along with your psychology paper? See the ELL specialist in the Learning Commons.

Need an internship in your field? CORE is the place for you.

Also ask your professor ¡ª just one of many advisors and mentors here to help you succeed.

Health and wellness

To make the most of your education and everyday life on campus, you¡¯ll need to take care of yourself. People and resources are here to help with your physical, mental and emotional needs, and to connect you with health care providers off campus.

You¡¯ll also find different options for exercise and preventive health care¡ªfrom yoga classes in the Carriage House, to intramurals in PepsiCo, to the Augie Plex student fitness center in the Westerlin Residence Center.

Food resources

The Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Campus Cupboard provides nonperishable food items and hygiene products to the student body. All Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø students are welcome to take items from the cupboard.

Also available at Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø, the Campus Kitchens Project (CKP) is a national leader in community service for students and is the future of hunger relief. CKP is empowering the next generation of leaders to implement innovative models for combating hunger, developing food systems and helping communities help themselves.
