Boelens relocating families from Ukraine to Iowa
When Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø business faculty member Angela Boelens ran out of space to sponsor Ukrainian families, she started a not-for-profit, IA NICE. So far, IA NICE has brought 18 families to Iowa, and their communities welcome their impact.
First APEP student earns diploma

LaGow '77 memorial scholarship and departmental gift help music education students excel
Music education was always close to the heart of Michael LaGow '77. He studied music education at Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø and played flute in the Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Symphonic Band. Following his graduation, he continued his passion for music education by teaching flute lessons and playing in local music ensembles. LaGow passed away in 2022, and his love for Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø music education continued with a surprise estate gift directed to support the music education department.

Flannery, Tereza collaborate and win MTNA award
Pianist John Flannery '24 received a $2,500 award from the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) after performing his composition titled "My Body Turns Toward Thee Again" with vocalist Abriana Tereza '24 at the annual MTNA conference.

Spring ensemble tours deepen performance skills
This spring, the Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Symphonic Band traveled the Midwest, the Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Choir toured California and the Jenny Lind Vocal Ensemble performed three concerts in Illinois. Through these tours, Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø students get to experience different cultures and share their love of music with others.
