An Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø liberal arts education is good for business, and career-building experiences give you the edge. It¡¯s not unusual for our business majors to graduate in four years with a job offer.
This is because you¡¯ll develop the skills of a highly effective businessperson, in any of the major¡¯s five concentrations:
Many business majors add a second major or a minor, and any field has a place in business. Accounting and economics are popular choices. Others include data analytics, entrepreneurship, non-profit leadership, and graphic design, especially with a marketing concentration.
*In addition to the business major with a concentration in international business, Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø also offers a major in international business.

Internships range from a semester in Australia to the John Deere World Headquarters, here in the Quad Cities. Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø 90% of business students complete internships, compared with 75% nationwide.
Recent placements include AT&T Global Accounts, Caterpillar, WGN-TV, Chicago Bears, John Deere, Edward Jones, Kraft Foods, Merrill Lynch, Washington Institute for Near East Policy and the American Red Cross.

Distinctions
Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø students shine in the annual CFA Institute Research Challenge global competition, which tests college/university students¡¯ analytic, valuation, report writing and presentation skills. In only our second year, Augie won the silver in the Chicago region, beating the University of Chicago, among others.
The finance program has been a member of the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program since 2018. The program awards our students scholarships to sit in the CFA level I and level II exams for a deeply discounted price. Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø has nine scholarships to award each year. Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø invests in business students¡¯ ideas through the annual $10,000 Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Business Plan Competition sponsored by the Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Creative Enterprise Fund, giving monetary awards to students for their original business plans.
Students take part in the innovative work happening in the EDGE Entrepreneurial Center in CORE. Go to the EDGE Center for expert help in developing your personal business plan, and to learn through projects ¡ª including marketing, advertising, web development, graphic design, client communications and more ¡ª for real community clients.

Data analytics is the science of identifying trends and patterns in raw data and drawing conclusions. The need for data analysts is rapidly growing, and Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø is only one of a few liberal arts colleges offering a major and a minor.
Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø's fall Symposium Day 2024 invited big ideas from any and all disciplines, welcoming presentations from students, faculty and staff, and distinguished guests ¡ª including keynote speaker Dr. Roosevelt Mont¨¢s from Columbia University and Dr. Chris Hedlin '11 from the University of Notre Dame.
Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø will enroll students in its inaugural Business Education Steeped in the Liberal Arts (BESLA) cohort in fall 2025. Business administration majors enrolling in BESLA will pursue a second major or minor in the traditional liberal arts.
Five student-athletes ¡ª from hometowns in Illinois, Hawai'i, Texas and Tennessee ¡ª are the college's most recent Academic All-Americans. Now with 183 Academic All-Americans, Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø ranks 14th among the NCAA¡¯s 1,100 schools in DI, DII and DIII across the country.
