Students recognized for 2024-25 achievements
Congratulations to the following students, who received recognition for their work in the 2024-2025 academic year from off-campus organizations.

Stone Lecture to explore civil rights and the Jews of Selma, Alabama
Dr. Amy K. Milligan will present the 2025 Stone Lecture in Judaism at Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø, "Navigating History: Civil Rights and the Jews of Selma, Alabama," at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in the Olin Auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public.

¡®Dynamic Traditions¡¯ brings new perspectives to Native American art
Students in an Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Prison Education Program history class curated a new exhibition in the Thomas Tredway Library. ¡°Dynamic Traditions,¡± which was staged by Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø¡¯s Center for Visual Culture, will be on display on the library¡¯s second floor until May 23.

Documentary by Watts ¡¯25 featured in QC Times, WVIK
Film/theatre performance double major Emma Watts ¡¯25 is producing a short documentary about the radium girls, a group of factory workers who ingested potentially deadly amounts of radium while working at the Radium Dial Company in Ottawa, Ill., in the 1920s and 1930s.

Biology Department unveils collaborative mural
Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Associate Professor Dr. Tierney Brosius said the mural features beetles collected at the local field station by Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø students as part of her summer research.
Fulbright Scholar to present on family, reproduction trends in Scandinavia
Dr. Elina Nilsson was awarded the 2024-25 Fulbright Hildeman Fellowship in Scandinavian Studies. She joined Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø in January to teach "Reproduction and Family in the Scandinavian Welfare States.¡±

Planetarium and geology museum to host May 3 open house
Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø's John Deere Planetarium and Fryxell Geology Museum will be open to the public on Saturday, May 3, for the annual spring open house. Indoor and outdoor programs will be offered in the planetarium, observatory and geology museum.

Students map plan to restore Louisiana coastline
Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø students have been working with the Grand Caillou/Dulac Band of Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw tribal community in Louisiana to develop a spatial database for use in planning how to restore the coast and mitigate rising water.

Å·ÖÞ±ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø's Center for the Advancement of Community Health and Wellness is partnering with the Healthy Pregnancy Coalition and the Healthy Outcomes Planning Task Force on Low Birth Weight to better understand maternal health experiences and outcomes for women in the Quad Cities.

The Illinois Digital Educators Alliance has named Alex Mayszak ¡¯13 the Tech Leader Educator of the Year. The state award honors teachers making outstanding contributions to integrating technology in their school district.

Fulbright Scholar Dr. Lena Hann preparing the future of public health
Dr. Lena Hann enjoyed 20 months of scholarship and research in Sweden, including spending fall semester as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar, a distinguished appointment from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Commission Sweden.
