Pin Cancer Night

Tonight is Pin Cancer Night at Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø's Carver Center. In addition to the dual meet between the Vikings and Dubuque Spartans, the evening will included a high school dual between Moline (Ill.) and Davenport (Iowa) Assumption and a silent auction, with all proceeds going to the Pin Cancer organization.

Pin Cancer is a nonprofit organization ¡°aimed to unite the wrestling world in the fight against cancer.¡± Its Wrestle for a Cure program gives wrestlers ¡°an avenue to inspire awareness and raise funds for cancer research.¡±

The dual between Moline and Assumption is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., with Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø vs. Dubuque to follow at approximately 8:30 p.m.

The Viking roster includes six alumni from the two high schools, including 9-0 Adarios Jones (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.), ranked second in the nation at 285 pounds by d3wrestle; 14-4 Trace Timmons (Assumption HS, Davenport, Iowa), ranked ninth at 174; and 10-8 Brendan Gould (Assumption HS, Davenport, Iowa), who sports a ¡°contender¡± rating at 141.

Coach Tony Willaert¡¯s squad also boasts the nation¡¯s second-ranked 184-pounder in 9-0 Christos Giatras (Lemont HS, Lemont, Ill.).
