QCSO Masterworks IV: Postcards from Venice
Venice - the Floating City! Your trip will begin with Rossini¡¯s high spirited and mischievous La scala di seta Overture. Principal Trumpet Matthew Onstad makes his QCSO solo debut with Arban¡¯s trumpet showpiece, Carnival of Venice, before we peer into the dark and emotional side of the city with Liszt¡¯s The Black Gondola. Vivaldi¡¯s elegant Concerto for Four Violins features four QCSO musicians, followed by Stravinsky¡¯s charming and witty Pulcinella Suite and Verdi¡¯s wistful Prelude to La Traviata. Rounding out the program is another charming and bubbly Rossini overture, from L¡¯italiana in Algeri.
