Artist statement

Untamed Persona is my statement to the world, a mindset shaped throughout college. Through experiences that shifted my perspective, I learned what it means to live freely and authentically. It reflects my growth, my view of the world, and my place in it.

This project is rooted in expression. Through art and screen printing, I found a medium I genuinely love. My music, tattoos, family, and personal growth all shaped this work. Music has always grounded me, and the Grateful Dead became especially meaningful because it connected me with my father. What began as simply his favorite band grew into something important to me and has influenced who I am.

My appreciation for my family has strengthened. The chaos and struggles of my home shaped me, and many pieces in this project reflect their moments, interests, and perspectives.

Tattoos have always inspired me. The idea of carrying art as part of your identity drew me in, and I grew to love the history and style of American Traditional tattooing. Its gritty, bold, and expressive look helped shape the visual direction of this project, blending tattoo culture with the creative potential of screen printing.

Jacob Moore

Jacob Moore is a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, majoring in graphic design and minoring in psychology.

While creating this work, I taught myself screen printing and explored its possibilities. Through constant experimentation, I learned to embrace mistakes for the character and individuality they add. Screen printing taught me the balance between control and spontaneity and the value of imperfection.

Untamed Persona helped me grow as both an artist and a person. My senior year would not have been as meaningful without the time and care I devoted to it. For the first time, I felt I had a real skill that was truly mine, and I am grateful for everything it brought me.
