As representatives of the division, the Division Deans meet regularly as a team and with Provost¡¯s Council to address shared concerns across the academic program, engage in strategic thinking, and provide divisional perspectives in institutional decision-making. The Division Deans call and preside over division meetings. They serve as liaisons to Facilities Services for maintenance and construction projects that impact divisional programs. They provide leadership over the division¡¯s academic program, including oversight of curriculum updates, master schedule changes, the development of new degree and interdisciplinary programs, and support for department-level assessment activities.

 Division Deans ensure that assessment results are used to improve quality, guide planning, and inform program development. They  support the external review process for departments and programs in partnership with the Associate Dean. Additionally, they mentor and support department chairs, particularly regarding personnel issues.

The Division Deans also facilitate and oversee part-time faculty searches within their division. Additionally, they make decisions on student grade appeals or complaints that cannot be resolved at the department level. They implement professional development programming for new chairs and support academic administrative assistants, including involvement in hiring processes.

 Division Deans are expected to be visible and offer mentorship to division members, and they collaborate with the CELTS Director to support faculty through ongoing professional development.

The Division Deans advise the Provost on resource allocation, including faculty lines and small capital requests; coordinate the course scheduling process with department chairs to ensure appropriate offerings for majors, minors, and general education students while staying within budgetary limits. They collaborate with the Associate Dean to manage course caps and seat numbers; oversee departmental budgeting and spending plans; approve P-card charges for chairs; coordinate the spending of division endowments, and facilitate strategic discussions around departmental gift and endowed funds. Additionally, they are responsible for distributing Academic Initiative Funds (AIF) and aligning academic offices and teaching or research spaces with faculty needs.

Finally, each Division Dean may assume additional areas of oversight based on the needs of the Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø and the individual strengths or interests of the Dean.
