Celebration of Learning 2019 in photos

Celebration of Learning and Symposium Day celebrates work by more than 200 students, faculty, staff and alumni at 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网. It is a full day of art, poster presentations, multimedia interactive sessions, oral presentations and performances.

This year's event took place May 1 with presentations around campus.

Alexis Aguilar — Saxophonist Alexis Aguilar '19 presenting with a group on student orchestral compositions.

Dr. Daniel Chetel — Dr. Daniel Chetel, music, director of orchestral activities.

Gabriel Lance — Gabriel Lance '19 with the student composers and the orchestra in Centennial Hall.

student panel — A student panel incuding Fatima Dominguez, Anna Wise, Dana Moss, Shauntrice Gamble, Jacob Washington, Ruth Nwatu, Talayah Lemon and Katie Hayes on "The Journey to Selma: Reliving the Past to Shape the Future."

Robert Burke — Robert Burke '20 with his project, "Targeting Influences on Urban Watershed Ecosystem Health through Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in Scott County, Iowa."

Christine Beach Lendol Calder — Christine Beach ’19 (history education)?with her project advisor, Dr. Lendol Calder, investigated the pros/cons of teaching high school history using role-playing.

Amanda Corona Dr. Nathan Frank — Amanda Corona '19 talks with Dr. Nathan Frank about her psychology project, "Sense of Community and Space."

Jennifer DiBuono — Jennifer DiBuono '19 and her project, "Innovations in Health and Wellness: Implementing a Tobacco-Free Campus Policy at 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网."

Meg Gillette — Dr. Meg Gillette, English, with students who worked on the Davenport Writers Pop Up Museum. They included Maxwell Maharry, Jason Pacanowski, Rebekah Wilken, William Ingalls, Shonari Phillips, Jessica Graminske, Rachel Hall and Stephanie Tillman.

Willow Kornoski — Willow Kornoski '20 and her project, "There’s a Chance Something Could Happen: A Study of Anti-vaccine Mothers and Their Online Discussions."

Ila Mostafa — Ila Mostafa '20 with her biology project, "Electricity Output in Microbial Fuel Cells with Cow Dung as an Organic Substrate."

Adarios Jones — Adarios Jones '19 recites a love poem that he wrote.

Dr. Robert Elfline — Dr. Robert Elfline performs "Pseudoconcert #5: An Hour for Piano" in Ascension Chapel.

Moira Dunn — Moira Dunn '19 explains her anthropology project, "Songs from Home: How Iraqi Refugees in the Quad Cities Remember, Use, and Pass Down Music."

Kyle Parker — Kyle Parker '19 and his chemistry poster, "The Study of SAMs Kinetic Adsorption Using a QCM as it Relates to Medical Implant Infections."

Mai Nguyen — Mai Nguyen ’19 (economics, business administration) researched the burgeoning marketplace in Asia, as foreign investors strategize to establish name brands, expand local sales, maintain international competitiveness and seek inexpensive local labor.

Sierra Rood — Participation has declined?for Project Nest, a??program for expecting mothers whose children are at risk. Sierra Rood ’19 (public health)?determined that an updated? brochure and improved distribution would connect more women to Project Nest.

Colton Hanke — Colton Hanke ’19 (history education)?looked into what it means to “think historically” in a high school history class instead of learning the traditional way — memorizing facts.?

Kate Black — Kate Black ’20 poses with some of her photos on display at the Creativity Fair, curated by Ian Murrin ’20 and hosted by the Center for Creativity. Black is an anthropology major with a minor in art.

Pierson Wofford — Pierson Wofford '19 with his public health project, "Undependent Rock Island: Facilitating Partnerships and Municipal Changes to Improve the Built Environment and Community Health Outcomes."

Morgan McEnroe — Morgan McEnroe ’20 (public health)?studied?benefits/barriers in an effort to increase participation of new college-aged blood donors. A toolkit was created for coordinating a blood drive, which resulted in a 322% increase in donors at 欧洲杯网投_欧洲杯外围app-投注官网.

Bradley Lathrop — Bradley Lathrop '20 with his environmental studies project, "Climate Change Biology and Contemplative Photography at Ghost Ranch, N.M."

Kim Phan Dr. Tim Muir — Kim Phan '19 talks with Dr. Tim Muir about "Standardization of Methods for Characterizing the Physiological Profiles of Aquatic Microbial Communities Using EcoPlates," done with fellow student Madalyn Murillo.

Greg Middleton Jr. — Greg Middleton Jr. '20 explains his project, "An Observational Study of Carrion Beetles (Family: Siplhidae) as Possible Bio-Indicators."

Robert Williams — Robert Williams '19 presents on "Political Purity Tests: National History Standards in the Classroom."

Darielle Sherrod — Darielle Sherrod '19 with "Let Them Breathe: An Educational Video for Caregivers of Children with Asthma at Denver Health Pediatric Care Clinics."

David Hundrieser — David Hundrieser '19 worked on the project for anthropology, "The Complex Relationship Between South Dakota Tourists and Native Americans."
