2024 Geifman Prize in Holocaust Studies winners
The annual Geifman Prize in Holocaust Studies is a competition in which students write or compose in music and art their responses to the Holocaust.
The winners for 2024 are:
- First place: Morgan Schroeder, essay, "Dogma: How a Convenient Narrative Led to the Holocaust"
- Second place: Anna-Maria H¨¹ebel, essay, "Panoramic View in front of and behind my fa?ade: Perceptions of a Viennese palace"
- Third place: Lexi Golab, poem, "shades of memory"
- Honorable mention: Rebekah Kalmbach, essay, "Jewish Women as Subjects and Creators of Holocaust Art"
- Honorable mention: Regan Recklaus, essay, "Sonic Salvation: A Neuroscientific Exploration of Music's Role in Cultural Preservation in the Wake of the Holocaust"
The Center for the Study of Judaism and Jewish Culture at Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø sponsors the competition. Supported by the Geifman Endowment, the Geifman Prize in Holocaust Studies carries an award of up to $500.
The winners will present their work at Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø's Celebration of Learning on May 8. It will be published in the Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Digital Commons.
