River Readings: Poet Carolyn Forch¨¦

The Department of English will host award-winning poet, activist, translator and memoirist Carolyn Forch¨¦ as this year¡¯s first author in the River Readings series. Forch¨¦ will read from her 2019 memoir, "What You Have Heard Is True."

Carolyn Forch¨¦¡¯s first book of poems, "Gathering the Tribes," won the Yale Series of Younger Poets Prize. Her 1993 international anthology "Against Forgetting" was praised by Nelson Mandela as ¡°itself a blow against tyranny, against prejudice, against injustice.¡±

A reception will follow the reading.
