Established in 1874 as the Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Silver Cornet Band, the ensemble known today as the Symphonic Band is not only the college¡¯s oldest, it also lays claim to the ensemble with the most colorful history. During World War I, members enlisted in the Army and saw service as the Sixth Illinois Regimental Band. In 1928, the band made an unsanctioned tour of Europe with a blind student, Iverne Dowie, who amazed audiences with his virtuosic violin performance.

Dr. Lambrecht, who teaches trumpet, conducting and brass methods in addition to serving as co-chair of the music department, will discuss these and other highlights of Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø¡¯s rich band tradition.
