This children's opera by Jewish Czech composer Hans Kr¨¢sa was written in 1938 but was not performed until 1942 when it premiered at the Vinohrady Jewish Boy¡¯s Orphanage in the Prague ghetto. \;\n\nMetz and his family were arrested and deported to the Theresienstadt Concentration Camp from their home in Odense\, Denmark. He was 8. Some 15\,000 children passed through Theresienstadt.
